Hatters rated v York City

Mark Tyler: 6.5 - Quiet afternoon as York never really sent too much his way throughout. Was left badly exposed by his defence for the goal though.

Scott Cuthbert: 6 - Lack of communication with McNulty led to the York opener and may have been fortunate not to concede a penalty for his challenge on Oliver in the first half.

Dan Potts: 6 - Overly cautious first half display from the full back who too often turned back into trouble when there was space to run into. More adventurous after the break though and good burst to win the penalty.

Luke Wilkinson: 7.5 - Kept it solid at the back and some marvellous forays forward that lifted the crowd. One in particular was promising until unfortunately tripping over his feet.

Steve McNulty: 7 - Had Oliver under control for the majority of the encounter but a poor mix-up with Cuthbert for York’s goal.

Jonathan Smith: 7 - Impressed during the hour he was on and showed an impressive array of passing at times too. Surprising he was the one to make way as Town altered their formation.

Olly Lee (STAR MAN): 7.5 - Best of Town’s midfielders as he kept the ball moving purposefully throughout and always looking to move forward whenever possible.

Josh McQuoid: 6.5 - Never quite as involved has he would like to have been as York allowed very little space on the flanks. Good raking pass for Luton to win their penalty though.

Luke Guttridge: 6.5 - Didn’t really ever manage to exert quite the influence he had against Hartlepool. Lots of moves nearly came off but not quite.

Cameron McGeehan: 6.5 - Finally got his hands on a penalty opportunity and took his chance with real aplomb. Like his team-mates, just couldn’t quite open up a dogged visiting defence.

Craig Mackail-Smith: 6 - Did a lot of running first half but wasted his only real opportunity, dragging wide when clear of the defence. Recurrence of his injury saw him replaced at half time.

Jack Marriott (SUB): 6.5 - On for Mackail-Smith and was always looking to stretch the City defence. Did so for Luton’s leveller and really pushing for a start now.

Alex Lawless (SUB): 6 - Took up the right wing back position as Luton looked to make the pitch wider, but couldn’t ever really create anything meaningful.

Nathan Doyle (SUB): 5.5 - On for the closing stages, although a strange option with both Danny Green and Ryan Hall on the bench too.
