Hatters release Richards

The 27-year-old joined Hatters on a free transfer in June 2012 after leaving Gillingham, but a succession of injuries meant he never made a first team appearance in his time at Kenilworth Road.

Town boss John Still told the club’s official website: “I’ve known Garry a long time and when I came to the club I was looking forward to working with him. Unfortunately with his injury that was something we were not able to do fully.

“I’m sorry that Luton supporters never got to see Garry in action because they would have seen a very good player and a terrific leader.

“Knowing Garry as I do I wish him all the best for the future and all the success whatever his career takes him.”
