Hatters release trio

LUTON Town have released defender Ed Asafu-Adjaye, winger Charlie Henry and midfielder Christian Tavernier.

Asafu-Adjaye played 82 times for the club since his debut against Crewe Alexandra in 2008 and was also part of the Hatters side that lifted the Johnstone’s Paint Trophy at Wembley in 2009.

The 22-year-old has been in and out of the side this season though and his last appearance came in the 1-1 draw at Darlington on March 13.

Henry only made six appearances for the club since signing from Newport County under Richard Money, before immediately suffering a serious foot injury. He went on loan to Aldershot this year, but since being fully fit was mainly restricted to reserve and FA Trophy outings.

Tavernier, 18, made just two appearances for Town, his last coming again Hendon in the FA Cup this year.

A statement on the club website said: “The decision to release the trio allows the players to seek alternative employment. The Club will be doing everything in its power to help them find a new club of the 2012/13 campaign and have maintained their commitment for the remainder of the contract.

“We wish all three the best of luck in their future careers.”
