After a trek to Darlington on Tuesday night, it was the last thing Town would have wanted, but manager Richard Money has pinpointed the need for three points.

He said: “We’re under no illusions that we want to get another three points on Saturday.

“Tuesday was a long day and now we’ve got to go through it all again.

“But as I said to them, if you want to win this league, you’ve got to go to these places and we need three points at Gateshead.”

Money is expecting the match to be easier on the eye than the encounter with the Quakers in midweek which the hosts spoiled with their uninspiring long-ball tactics.

He said: “I think they (Gateshead) are more of a footballing team.

“I know Ian (Bogie) quite well and think he wants to get the ball on the floor, so I would suspect they will do that.”

Gateshead play their home games at the soulless International Stadium, complete with athletics track, but the boss doesn’t think it should be a factor.

He said: “Look at the Darlington game.

“It’s a beautiful stadium a lovely arena and there wasn’t an atmosphere.

“We have to generate our own atmosphere and make sure we do the job that we need to do.”

Full-back Dan Gleeson made his return from injury on Tuesday night and Money is hopeful the same could be said of Keith Keane on Saturday.

He added: “Hopefully Keane will be fit, then maybe we can put George Pilkington at the back which gives us a little bit more football in the back line.”
