Hatters U18s see off Cambridge U18s

Luton Town U18s maintained their unbeaten start to the season with a comfortable 2-0 victory over Cambridge United in the Youth Alliance at Ely Way on Wednesday afternoon.

In a game the young Hatters dominated, it wasn’t until the 61st minute that Paul Driver’s side took the lead when Ekene Amadi nodded home at the near post from Daril Nwgala’s cross.

Luton squandered a number of chances but got the second crucial goal their play deserved with seven minutes left when Osamu Allman raced clear with the ball following a Cambridge corner and finished well.

A pleased Driver told the club’s official website: “After the disappointment of drawing with Stevenage at the weekend this was a terrific response by the boys.

“We dominated the game, restricted Cambridge to shots from distance and created chances to score many more goals.

“That was the only concern – whether we could seal the game – and pleasingly we did. Our play in the wide areas was excellent and Daril, Osamu and Luke Trotman were in particular very dangerous.

“Overall it was a good performance. It was very similar to the Stevenage game in that we kept the ball well and created chances. But the difference was getting that second goal and staying switched on from set-plays.”

Town U18: King, Trotman, Magaraushe (sub Perry 70), Tamplin, Musonda, Justin, Galliford, Atkinson (sub Bakinson 89), Ngwala, Amadi (sub Tayali 70), Allman. Subs not used: Hawkes, Gooch.
