Hatters youngster leaves Town to join Clarets on loan
Teenager to get a first taste of senior football
Young Luton striker Jamie Odegah will gain his first experience of senior football after agreeing a one-month youth loan deal with National League South side Chelmsford City this afternoon.
The 19-year-old, who can play both as a centre forward and a winger, joined the Hatters academy from Cheshunt as an U14, as he played five times in the FA Youth Cup when going through the age-groups at Kenilworth Road, while last term he made three Premier League Cup appearances, with two assists.
This season, Odegah has featured six times in the competition, scoring twice, in the 2-1 win over Exeter City and 2-1 loss to Brentford, also featuring regularly in the Beds Senior Cup too. Having impressed his coaches with the Hatters, the attacker has now headed to the Dunmow Group Community Stadium to join a club sitting 14th in the table, nine points away from both the relegation zone and the play-offs as well.

Discussing his arrival with the Clarets official website, manager Angelo Harrop, who takes his side to Farnborough this weekend and then host Weston Super-Mare the following Saturday, said: “I’m really happy with the addition of Jamie, he impressed me earlier in the season when we took our U21s team to Luton. He is a pacey young forward that will run in behind and into the channels for us. I’m looking forward to kicking things off with Jamie.”
The teenager also talked about his arrival with Chelmsford, adding: “Angelo spoke with my manager at Luton and said how he really liked me, liked the way I played as I played you guys back in August, September time and if the coaches like me, then I’m happy to come. It’s been positive, he knows what I can bring and that's why he brought me on board so we can move forward as a club. I’m really happy to be here, everyone has looked after me and I’m just ready to play. I’m a number nine, I play striker, I love to run in behind and run into the channels, but I can also hold up if I have to."
