After coming through the ranks to make his debut in May 2008, Howells went on to become a first team regular with the club, playing his part in Town winning promotion back into the Football League before his departure in the summer of 2016. However, who would he select in his all-time best XI from players that pulled the Luton shirt on with him? The Luton News looks at just who made the final cut.
5. CB: George Pilkington
Pilks was a quiet guy but I dont think I ever saw him lose a header. He read the game so well and was without doubt an unsung hero of the team.
6. CM: Keith Keane
How can I not have this Luton legend in the team! Broke up play better then anyone Ive seen and scored straight from a corner to then get sent off! Deserved to go on and play at a high level and a top, top man!
7. CM: Alex Lawless
This guy never got the credit he deserved. Top professional who led by example and every game would always consistently perform no matter what. Had a screamer in his locker as well!
8. AM: Paddy McCourt
Bags of ability and footballing brain. Pleasure to play in the same team as Paddy. Never seen a player like it in training. His Celtic career speaks for itself but this guy was scary with how good he was.
