Investment makes Hatters title chances tougher than ever

Title-challengers Fleetwood’s spending is well known, but Brabin also highlighted the investment from the likes of Forest Green Rovers, Newport County, Cambridge United and Gateshead, which is making the Blue Square Bet Premier more competitive than ever.

He said: “They’ve all invested heavily and they believe there is a realistic chance of getting promoted.

“I just think the league is getting more and more competitive.

“The beginning of last year no-one would have thought Crawley would win it and the year before that Stevenage would win it.

“There’s no expectancy on Stevenage or on Crawley but with a little bit of financial backing they’ve shown what can be achieved.”
