It’s the same old story for Town boss Brabin

IT was a case of deja vu for Town manager Gary Brabin as he saw his side held to a 1-1 draw by Forest Green Rovers at Kenilworth Road on Tuesday night, writes Mike Simmonds.

The hosts dominated the majority of possession and created plenty of chances, but like last season, found a visiting keeper, this time Rovers’ stopper Matt Bulman, in stunning form.

Brabin said: “I’m disappointed as I thought we played well and dominated the game.

“It was same old, same old. They came here, got people behind the ball and we found it tough to break them down.

“Against the run of play we’ve gone a goal down, which should have had better marking.

“I thought when we pulled one back we should have gone on and won it, but again we’ve brought out a fantastic goalkeeping performance.”

Hatters will be back on home soil again this weekend when one of Brabin’s former clubs Southport are the visitors.

Although the boss is aware that the Town faithful will accept nothing less than a first victory of the season, he believes his players will thrive in the occasion.

He added: “The expectancy is something we’re going to have to live with.

“Equally as it’s a pressure, it’s a compliment and I think every player would want to play under this atmosphere and this crowd.

“They want to win every game, but I think they appreciate good football as well.

“They were clapping the lads off at the end (on Tuesday night), which I thought was first class.

“I’m just glad we’ve started our season, it seemed like it was dragging on a little bit.

“We’ve got a game on Saturday against Southport and hopefully we can get three points.”
