Jones admits Leicester City midfielder Dewsbury-Hall is on his radar

Luton boss Nathan Jones has admitted he is a big fan of Leicester City midfielder Kiernan Dewsbury Hall after the youngster was linked with a move to Kenilworth Road recently.

The 22-year-old has come through the Foxes academy and although he is yet to feature for the first team in a senior match, has played 11 times for the club's U21s in the Checkatrade Trophy, scoring twice.

Dewsbury-Hall spent time on loan at League One Blackpool last season, scoring four goals in 10 appearances and was one of a number of players rumoured to be interesting Jones.

When asked if this was the case, Jones, speaking ahead of Saturday's Championship opener against Barnsley, said: “He’s been on my radar for a long time Kiernan, I know him very well and I’ve watched him 10 times.

“I really, really like him, I think he’s an excellent midfielder, but he’s a Leicester player so it would be wrong for me to comment on him.

“But I do know him very, very well, I watched him for Leicester, watched him for Blackpool and he’s a player I do think has a fantastic future.”

The reports have been that Luton are looking to loan the midfielder for the season, and although not ruling it out, Jones hinted he would prefer something a bit more permanent.

He added: “The only thing we have here is we like to get our own players.

“If we loan players then it means we’re just improving them for someone else.

“In some areas you have to do it, in other areas there’s a little bit more options.

"In terms with Rhys (Norrington-Davies) for example, the left back area there's not many around, out and out left backs that would strength us

“We had a list and it’s about getting a permanent if you can, but we felt he was worth the risk, or the opportunity to bring him in and maybe we could make it permanent further down the line, let's see.

“We prefer to get our own players.

"If that means just taking a loan, because they improve us we always look elsewhere to see if maybe we can get a permanent.

"And even though he might not be at the same level, within time and the work we do, he will be and then he’ll be ours.”
