Hatters manager Nathan Jones has hinted he might be open to the idea of allowing one of his midfielders to leave before the transfer window closes at 5pm tomorrow.

With Bristol City's Joe Morrell strongly linked with a move to Kenilworth Road, plus Jones confirming he would like to bring in Andrew Surman as well, it will leave the Town chief with a wealth of options in the centre of the pitch.

Luke Berry, Pelly-Ruddock Mpanzu and Glen Rea have been Hatters' main men in the Championship so far this term, with Elliot Lee often dropping back into a deeper role too, while Jordan Clark has impressed since joining from Accrington Stanley.

Jones still has Andrew Shinnie, George Moncur and Ryan Tunnicliffe available to him, plus if he can recover from his long-term injury, Eunan O'Kane, as the Town chief said: "We're well stocked with midfielders, so if someone came in for one, we'd look at options.

"But in terms of everyone else, we're in a real good position and strong moving forward now.

“Maybe (he would move one on), but we’re in no rush or hurry.

"We’re in a good place, we’ve got a good squad, a competitive squad and it’s a development club here, we’re developing players.

"So to do that you need a great environment on a day-to-day basis and to be honest with you, not everyone wants to go from here.

"They enjoy the training, they love being around each other and providing they have a chance of playing, which everyone does at the club, then there’s real good competition here and we’re happy with that.”

With Town still having 24 hours in which to bolster their squad too, when asked if there would be any more incomings, Jones added: "You're always looking to improve on some level if we can, whether that's going to be possible come 5 o'clock tomorrow, then that's the thing.

"But we're in a real good place squad-wise, once we get everyone fit we've got competition everywhere and that's always good for a manager to have."
