Attacker Kazenga LuaLua could still play a 'major' role in the Hatters' bid to stay up this term along with midfielder Luke Berry according to boss Nathan Jones.

The pair haven't featured since the Championship resumed last month, a knee issue ensuring LuaLua hasn’t even made the match day squad for Town's first three games, while Berry was absent with an injury picked up before Town went back to training.

However, on LuaLua's chances of playing in the final six matches, Jones said: "He’s definitely closer, how close he is to playing and being available for Saturday is another thing, and we will have to monitor that.

“He’s done a real physical session today so he’s a lot, lot better.

“How ready he will be is another thing but he’s that type that can come off the bench and really turn a game so look, he will prove vital.

“We’re hoping he will become available, as we believe in the work we do, not just the football work but the physical, sport science element of it.

“So hopefully we can get him back and he will play a major part in us getting what we need.”

Going on to Berry, 27, Jones continued: “He’s fit.

"The only way he’s missed out is basically he’s missed a chunk of the training and the games that we played, so it’s just about getting match fitness, which you only do by playing.

"We can’t arrange any friendlies so we will probably have to put him in at some point, but he’s ready and raring to go.”
