Luton boss Nathan Jones insisted there is no urgency to recall goalkeeper Simon Sluga to the first team after the efforts of James Shea in his absence.

The Croatian had played all of Town’s first 14 Championship games of the season, before suffering a shoulder injury during the 4-0 defeat at Cardiff City.

That saw Shea come into the team, with the former Arsenal youngster conceding just four goals in his six games, with three clean sheets in his last four appearances.

Sluga was fit enough to return to the bench for Saturday’s goalless draw against Bournemouth, and on the chances of him being picked to face Reading on Boxing Day, Jones said: “It’s good competition and we have that.

“Simon has been number one and has done very well for us.

"Shea has come in and done what he always does, he’s a real good goalkeeper, someone we can go to at any point.

“Whether we continue with that or bring Simon back, that is something we will decide but I’m very happy with James so there is no urgency to do it.”
