Luton boss Nathan Jones has confirmed the club won’t be entering the free transfer market to sign any more players.

The Town chief had been linked last week with a move for both defender Gabriel Osho and midfielder Andrew Surman after the pair left Reading and Bournemouth at the end of last season.

However, after adding Bristol City midfielder Joe Morrell and capturing both Leicester City's Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall and Sam Nombe from MK Dons on loan before the window closed last Friday, Jones admitted that is now that, saying: “No, we're done now.

“If I go to the board and ask for anything else, I think we could have a couple of heart attacks on our hands.”

Jones was quick to praise the board for financing his forays into the market since returning to the club last season, bringing in Jordan Clark, Tom Lockyer, James Bree and Rhys Norrington-Davies on loan before the season started, plus Town's supporters, who haven't been able to attend a game since early March.

He continued: “The board has been fantastic as we have to remember we are in a pandemic and we've got no fans (at games).

“Our fans have been absolutely outstanding in terms of season ticket sales, in terms of backing us and we do not take that for granted in any way, shape or form.

“I can assure you they haven't gone out and spent money frivolously, we haven’t gone out and spent a load of money we haven’t got, everything has been within budget.

“We've had to ask people to pull on the purse strings a little bit and to dip their hand in and everyone has done fantastically well, but we believe that we will recoup that long term.

“We’re in the middle of a real difficult spell, but in terms of the football club, we’ve managed to do the business we needed almost on budget, you'd have to ask Gary (Sweet, chief executive) about that, but we’re in a good place.”
