Town boss Nathan Jones has called for his side to show cool heads during their final game of the Championship season at home to Blackburn Rovers tomorrow night.

The Hatters go into the match sitting third bottom in the table, although jump up a place due to Wigan Athletic's 12-point deduction for entering administration.

Knowing a win will be enough to secure their second tier status, Jones doesn't want any more incidents like the one during the 1-0 win at Hull City on Saturday, when striker James Collins shoved home defender Angus MacDonald to the ground midway through the second half, after reacting angrily to a challenge by the defender.

The forward was lucky not to see red, with official Robert Jones deciding a yellow card would suffice, as Jones said: “I think it was both of them, it was a very heated game and we’ve got to keep it cool, you have to keep it cool, you can’t afford that, so we'll speak to James.

"I think what happened is he stamped on James, James then reacted and you don't need that, you have to keep a cool head and that’s what we said.

"In the battle and how they played, we really had to keep ice cold blood as we knew we’d get opportunities as this side get opportunities.

"It's just we can't afford to be chasing games at Championship level and only once have we been chasing games really here, which is the Preston game (1-1), the Reading game (5-0 defeat) was out of sight.

"To take the points that we have, at the minute we’re 1.6pts a game, so we’re promotion form at the minute."
