Hatters boss Nathan Jones has confirmed he will ‘100 per cent’ recall defender Peter Kioso from his loan spell with Bolton Wanderers if he has to following an injury to on-loan Sheffield Unuited full back Rhys Norrington-Davies yesterday.

The 21-year-old went off at half time in the 3-0 defeat to Brentford, further hampering Jones’ options with both Dan Potts and James Bree still out injured, the former not having played at all this term.

It meant Tom Lockyer, a centre half by trade, moved to right back, with Martin Cranie switching to the left.

Kioso has been getting rave reviews following his move to the Trotters last month, with five appearances and one goal, but he might make an earlier than expected return to Kenilworth Road, as Jones said: “At this rate I’ll 100 per cent call Peter Kioso back.

“That’s not the reason why I left him go, a lot of things have happened in the meantime with that, but yes, 100 per cent.”

On the injury to Norrington-Davies, who had started every game for the Hatters since arriving from Bramall Lane, Jones added: “It’s fatigue in his hamstring, so we’ll see how it is.

“We’ll scan it, hopefully it’s not a tear or anything, it’s just symptomatic of the amount of games he’s had to play as a 21-year-old.

“I would have loved to have freshened it up, but I’ve not got another left back at the club.

"I know we could have played Cranie over there, but at the minute, I’ve not got another right back at the club, so realistically that’s the predicament we’re in.

"That’s not just my fault, there’s a lot of things happened which could have been avoided.

“It’s a soft tissue injury, but every club is going to have them now because of this crazy schedule and someone has decided you can only have three subs which we keep on about.

"It might not mean something to some people, but for us, we’re at our maximum at this level.

"We need to be able to freshen stuff up, but we’re not able to do that at the minute.”
