Luton boss Nathan Jones won't rush goalkeeper Simon Sluga back into action at Coventry City tomorrow night if he isn't quite ready.

The Croatian injured his shoulder during the 4-0 defeat at Cardiff City a week ago, with James Shea deputising for the last two matches.

Although Sluga is in better shape for the trip to the Sky Blues now, Jones said: "He’s a lot closer than he was on Friday when I was asked, it’s just a time thing with Simon.

"We won’t rush him back into anything, but he’s in a much better place, so whether we put him back in tomorrow is another thing, or it might be the weekend.

"Let's just see, but James Shea has done well anyway, so it's not a decision that we’re desperate to make in any way, but if we needed to then he's in a far better place.

“We signed James Shea to be a second number one in League Two and he’s another one of those who has gone on a journey.

"He’s had to bide his time, but whenever he's called upon, he finished the season to get promoted (in League One) and I think he’s done that on a couple of occasions.

"He's got one fantastic CV, so no issues whatsoever."

Town were also without Rhys Norrington-Davies, Danny Hylton, Martin Cranie and Pelly-Ruddock Mpanzu for the 2-0 loss in Swansea on Saturday.

Whether they could be back tomorrow night, Jones added: "They're a lot better, all it is is fatigue with a lot of them.

"When they’re fatigued, then they risk pulling anything, so for the sake of one game, we bring people out and we’re strong enough to be able to cope with that, and then putting people in, but it’s just a crazy time.

"Cranie is the one that we won’t be able to rely on, the rest of them are all back out on the grass.

"They’re all at different stages, but Cranie is the only one that won’t be available."
