The 24-year-old, who would have been a free agent in the summer, has been in fine form since being handed his Football League debut in the 3-2 defeat at AFC Wimbledon after an injury to number one Mark Tyler.

Justham, who joined Town from East Thurrock in the summer of 2013, has now gone on to play the last 13 games and kept three clean sheets in his last four games as he told the club’s official website: “The last two years have been a bit of a whirlwind and I’ve had to adapt to being a professional footballer, but I’m very happy and delighted to sign for another two years at this massive club.

“I’ve learned a lot and I have a lot of people to thank: Mark Tyler in particular, he’s been brilliant, as has Kevin Dearden since he’s come in; and the gaffer, of course.

“I’m grateful to them and now I’ve got another two years to try and prove myself further.”

Boss John Still added: “The one positive from our run of bad form was Elliot’s performances. He has come in and proven how good he is both on and off the pitch. He’s showed us all why we brought him to this football club in the first place.

“Mark Tyler might have been out injured but Elliot has grabbed his opportunity with both hands and hasn’t looked back.

“It’s great to be able to have two goalkeepers of their ability challenging for the number one spot – and I mean that, because now Elliot’s had a taste of it he won’t want to give up his position, whether he’s friends with Mark or not.”
