Former Hatters midfielder Keith Keane admitted it was ‘weird’ to come up against his old club in the Johnstone’s Paint Trophy at Kenilworth Road last night.

Keane, who made 285 appearances for the Hatters, gave an excellent performance in central midfield and received a wonderful reception from the sparse crowd in attendance.

After the match, which Crawley won 1-0, Keane tweeted: “I would just like to thank everyone at the game tonight for giving me such a good reception it was great to be bk at Kenilworth but definitely weird playing against Luton. I hope they kick on and get promoted again this season.”

Coincidentally Keane’s former team-mate and good friend Jake Howells leapfrogged him as the game was his 286th for the Hatters, as he moved up to 24th in the club’s all-time appearance list.
