Keeper relieved to keep second Hatters clean sheet

Since replacing the injured Mark Tyler, Justham has conceded 19 goals in 12 matches, with only one other shut out, although the former East Thurrock stopper has been largely blameless throughout Luton’s awful fun of form.

Justham said: “I was relieved, it was good to get a clean sheet, especially after Saturday, where I felt the game was very tight and a lot of people said it had 0-0 all over it.

“But we dug in and that’s two in three now. We’re getting back to how we were defending.

“When we’re leaking goals, it’s unlike us. We’re very good at the back, it’s what we build from and a bit like the old Luton coming back, so it was solid.”

Hatters had to work doubly hard after being reduced to 10 men when Paul Benson was dismissed on 38 minutes too as Justham continued: “The boys worked very hard because the sending off killed us a bit with our shape.

“At the end, everyone’s very tired, but we work on it, overloading the defence in training, so thankfully it paid off.

“The back four were excellent, a lot of people came in for a lot of stick recently, but I thought they were excellent.”

Justham himself produced some fine handling once more and an excellent reflex stop from the lively veteran Jamie Cureton, as he added: “It was quite a night for me, there were one or two good ones (saves), so it’s pleasing to do that.

“Our point could be a very big point. Say we did lose 1-0, that’s a point dropped, so we go again Saturday and hopefully get three points against Hartlepool.”
