Kissock loving life at Macclesfield

Midfielder John Paul Kissock couldn’t be happier with life at the moment.

The 22-year-old signed for Macclesfield Town on loan until January in the close season after being told he wasn’t going to feature regularly at Kenilworth Road,

Since joining the Silkmen he has made six appearances and scored his first goal in the 2-1 win over Braintree Town at the weekend.

Speaking about his spell at Moss Rosem, he said: “One hundred per cent it’s my happiest time in football.

“It’s been a breath of fresh air for me. In the last couple of years I’ve been in teams that are very direct and get it up in the air, they keep their shape and don’t really get to express themselves.

“But since I’ve come here it’s been refreshing.

“I’ve been given the freedom to express myself with getting someone screaming at me if it doesn’t go quite right, which tends to be the sort of culture we have in this country.

“Everyone knows how the gaffer likes to play and they’re relishing it.”

On what he hopes his future holds after the loan ends in the new year, Kissock continued: “I’d love to extend my current loan but right now I’m just concentrating on playing football and giving 100 per cent for Macclesfield.

“I do that every time I put the shirt on so I’ll leave other people at the two clubs to sort out anything like that, but I’m very, very happy right now.”

The trickster, affectionately dubbed Messi by the Kenilworth Road faithful is also relishing working with Macclesfield boss Steve King.

He added: “Playing under a really good manager who lets you have the freedom to express yourself is great.

“That’s the way I play and he gives you the freedom to go and play, and not just me, it’s the whole team and some of the performances we’ve put in have been paying him back.

“Since I was a kid I haven’t played for a better manager, simply because of the way he lets you go and express yourself when we’ve got the ball and play in little pockets.

“We’re looking to go forward and you don’t get screamed at when things go wrong, he gives you that freedom to express yourself.”
