The 20-year-old, who was out of contract at the end of the season, has made 19 appearances this term, before injury curtailed his progress.

Lacey first played for Luton in a 0-0 draw against Welling United in the FA Trophy back in December 2010, and has played 28 times overall, while also having loan spells at Thurrock, Cambridge City and Eastleigh.

Town manager John Still told the club’s official website: “Alex had a fantastic first half of the season and it was unfortunate that an injury meant we had to make changes and bring in Fraser Franks.

“We’re delighted to have Alex back fit again because I rate him very highly. He’s got a big future and I’m looking forward to seeing him improve and progress - hopefully in a higher league.”
