Lafayette moves to Cards for a month

The 29-year-old who signed from Welling in the summer is yet to score for Luton and has been struggling for match fitness after undergoing a hernia operation earlier in the season.

Boss John Still said: “Ross is going to Woking. There’s a few clubs that asked, but that’s been the choice, only for a month though.

“He’s fit, but we just need him to get match fit so he can produce what we see in training, as he’s got to transfer that into a match.

“He hasn’t had enough game time, he’s just a little bit behind and at the moment, we perhaps need a touch more than that.”

Still admitted that it had been hard on Lafayette to produce his best form after being rushed into action due to Paul Benson’s injury.

He continued: “We pushed hard with Ross and it was unfair on Ross as he was playing when not ready. So we brought in Jayden (Stockley), who did a good job with us the other day.

“That has resulted in us loaning Ross out so he can get the games he needs to come back as fit as he should be.”

Lafayette might not be the only player leaving Kenilworth Road temporarily either as when asked if he expected to send some more out for matches, Still added: “We will be. We’ve done it with (Andy) Parry now and done it with Ross.

“There are two or three others that will probably benefit from those loan spells. We’ll look at that next week and marry that up if someone comes in, it makes it easier for someone to go out.

“I just want to make sure we tread carefully when we loan out, but I would say there is a strong possibility we will do that.”
