Lawless fined after dressing room incident

TOWN midfielder Alex Lawless will be fined by the club after breaking his hand during the half time interval at York City on Saturday, writes Mike Simmonds.

The 28-year-old former Minstermen player suffered the injury by punching the dressing room wall at Bootham Crescent, after Hatters had trooped off the field trailing 3-0.

Lawless had been barracked by the home fans on his return to the club he played over 50 times for, including the play-off final defeat to Oxford United.

Manager Gary Brabin admitted although he could understand the frustrations his midfielder was feeling, he will still be punished.

Brabin said: “It has been well documented he has broken his hand at half time, so we’re going to be without him for a month or so.

“I’ve spoken to Alex at length and he’s absolutely gutted about the situation, but we’ve just got to push on from that.”
