The 29-year-old has missed large chunks of the season with a hamstring injury and then breaking his foot.

However, he has now featured in the last four games, playing 57 minutes on Saturday – his longest involvement since October.

Lawless said: “I’m chomping at the bit to get involved and help the lads out and I’ll do all I can.

“I’m delighted to be back and I’ll most definitely be working as hard as I can to help the team out because we want this promotion a lot.

“Because we had it last year, it makes it want us more this year.”

Lawless was on the bench as Town made yet another frustrating start to the game, being introduced just after the half hour mark when his side were trailing 2-0.

He saw Cameron McGeehan head home before the break and then netted himself to make it 2-2 in the second period.

Once Lawless had bagged a second of the campaign he felt there would only be one winner, as he came the closest, denied by keeper and woodwork until Luke Wilkinson put through his own goal late on.
