Lawless thrilled the bad times are over

The 29-year-old, who had been part of two play-off final defeats, plus last year’s failure to reach the top five, said: “The disappointments build up to making you want to do it more, and so when you actually finally do it, it just puts to bed all the bad times you’ve had to experience.

“You know you’ve finally done it and I’m glad I was here when it finally happened.

“For me personally, I’ve got my story and everyone else has got their story. In my case it was something that I didn’t want to miss out on here.

“I’m pleased that I haven’t and that I was involved.”

Lawless was part of the club’s open top bus parade on Sunday, and loved the chance to live out something he had dreamt of doing, while the former York man believes Hatters have every chance in League Two next season.
