Lawless thrilled to make his Town return

Midfielder Alex Lawless admitted he felt like a kid again after his long-awaited comeback for Hatters in their 1-0 defeat to Plymouth Argyle on Saturday.

Although ultimately disappointed by the scoreline, Lawless was relieved to finally be back after a hamstring injury during pre-season.

He said: “I was like a little kid preparing for the game and being on the bench, I really enjoyed myself. I know it was frustrating and I’m disappointed, but deep down I’m really glad to be back playing and already looking forward to the next game now.

“When you’ve lost, you just want to get playing and putting the result right and especially myself as just watching the games has made me want to play more than ever.”

After joining Luton in November 2010 with the club in the Conference, Lawless had to bide his time to get back into the Football League, so is now relishing ever second of it.
