Leicester boss Rodgers admits Foxes midfielder who is interesting Luton could leave on loan

Leicester City boss Brendan Rodgers has admitted that midfielder Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall could leave the club on loan during the transfer window.

The 22-year-old, who has come through the ranks at the King Power Stadium, is a player that Luton chief Nathan Jones revealed recently was someone that was on his radar.

Dewsbury-Hall made his first start for the Foxes during the Carabao Cup third round clash against Arsenal last week, playing 76 minutes of the 2-0 defeat.

With City, who trounced Manchester City 5-2 in the Premier League yesterday, looking to strengthen their squad ahead of the window closing next month, Rodgers could look to let Dewsbury-Hall move away for first team football, even though the Foxes are also in the Europa League this season.

The Shepshed-born youngster had a successful spell at League One Blackpool last term, scoring four goals in 10 games, as speaking to the Leicester Mercury, Rodgers said: “We’ll see over the course of the next week or so.

“He’s a young player I’ve been really impressed with.

“It just depends on what we’re going to bring in. There’s a lot of games this season, so we may need him around.

“If he stays around, I’m sure he’ll get some game-time.

“If we feel he’s not going to contribute, then we’ll put him out on loan. We haven’t made a final decision on that.

“The idea was to get him in tonight, into the area, to get playing, and I thought he did very well.”

Jones, who has previously stated he isn’t keen on bringing a player in on loan, despite agreeing a season-long deal for Sheffield United full back Rhys Norrington-Davies, said of the midfielder: “He’s been on my radar for a long time Kiernan, I know him very well and I’ve watched him 10 times.

I really, really like him, I think he’s an excellent midfielder, but he’s a Leicester player so it would be wrong for me to comment on him.

“But I do know him very, very well, I watched him for Leicester, watched him for Blackpool and he’s a player I do think has a fantastic future.”
