Leicester boss Rodgers confirms Dewsbury-Hall is staying at Luton after cut-off date for recall passes

Leicester City boss Brendan Rodgers has revealed Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall will remain at Luton for the remainder of the season, despite admitting he had considered recalling the midfielder from his loan spell at Kenilworth Road.

The Foxes boss had inserted a clause into the 22-year-old's contract after agreeing to send him to the Hatters back in October, which meant he could have returned to the King Power Stadium during January.

After Belgian midfielder Dennis Praet suffered an injury that will keep him out for three months, Rodgers thought about an early recall for Dewsbury-Hall, who has starred since joining Luton, playing 16 times, scoring once, winning both of the club's last two Diamond Player of the Month awards.

However, the cut-off date for any such decision has now passed, as speaking to Leicester Mercury, Rodgers said: "Unfortunately his loan conditions mean that we can’t (recall him).

"There was a date put in his loan agreement where he couldn’t be called back after that. We’ve passed that stage now.

“It was something I did consider after the weekend, but the time had passed, so he will continue his development there and we’ll see where we’re at with him in the summer.

“We get good access to his work and to his games. I spoke to Nathan (Jones) a few weeks back, he’s been really pleased with him.

“That's the whole idea, he’s not 17 or 18, he’s in his early twenties, so he needs to be out playing and getting games.

"He’s at a good level, at a really good club, with an excellent manager, who will help him develop. Nathan’s very pleased with him.”
