5. Ian Hillier
Ex-Arsenal youngster couldn’t command a regular starting slot for the Hatters that term as he made 22 appearances, 10 of them coming from the bench. Stayed on for one more season, but then left for Newport County.
6. Paul Hughes
Midfielder racked up 35 outings for Town, scoring three times, including a double in the 3-2 win over Northampton Town later in the campaign. Injuries affected him the following term as he then dropped into non-league.
7. Steve Robinson
Northern Ireland international had joined in the summer from Preston North End and went on to play 29 times that season, scoring once, in the 3-0 win over Swindon. Had a great spell at Kenilworth Road, with over 200 appearances.
8. Dean Crowe
His ball forward was deflected into the path of Thorpe to open the scoring for the Hatters. Managed 27 outings that season, with two goals, as he didn’t feature much the following year, heading to Oldham Athletic
