5. Paul Elliott
Centre half drew the Hatters level on 77 minutes, heading home David Moss’s cross to make it 2-2. Only played nine times in the league that season as he broke his leg against LeicesterCity, Steve Foster arriving to take his place.
6. Mal Donaghy
One of two players, along with Brian Stein, who started every single league game for the Hatters that season, the first of three campaigns that he didn’t miss a match, scoring once in a 2-1 home defeat to Liverpool.
7. Ricky Hill
England international was a starring player in the top flight for Luton and he provided the assist for Stein’s winner, finding the striker to go through and beat Hucker. Two league goals himself that term, against Everton and Sunderland.
8. Brian Stein
Was the match-winner for Town at Loftus Road, as found by Hill’s pass, he went through to tuck home. First league goal of the season for the forward, and one of nine top flight strikes he managed that term during his 42 appearances.
