Luton take on Everton at Kenilworth Road this evening attempting to secure a first home victory over the Toffees for over 30 years.
That day, back on January 21, 1989, the Hatters triumphed 1-0 thanks to a fantastic finish from Roy Wegerle, who blasted home a marvellous finish after collecting David Preece’s pass over the visiting defence. To find out just who lined up for Town that day, see below.

Composed display from the defender alongside Foster in the heart of Town's back-line, as Everton forward Wayne Clarke couldn't have too much of an impact at Kenilworth Road. Played 18 games in total that season, scoring once in a 2-2 with Coventry City, as he shifted to full back once Town snapped up Dave Beaumont from Dundee United for a fee of £150,000 in January. 6. MF: David Preece
Midfielder was a key figure in Luton doing the double over Everton that season, as he picked out a wonderful pass for Roy Wegerle to do the rest and blast home the only goal of the afternoon. Also crossed for Harford to head wide of the target, as he made 26 appearances for the Hatters as they finished 16th in the top flight thanks to a 1-0 victory over Norwich City on the final day. 7. MF: Danny Wilson
Played his part in some good moves for the Hatters on the day, as they saw off Everton in front of their own fans, coming out on top against a midfield containing Stuart McCall and Paul Bracewell. Had a fine campaign for Luton, playing all but one Division One encounter, scoring nine goals, finishing as joint top scorer with Kingsley Black. Bagged four in Town's last four matches, including a double in the 5-2 victory over Charlton Athletic. Photo: Hatters Heritage
8. MF: Ricky Hill
The England international was involved in the move that saw Wegerle bag the only goal of the day, while he had another cross pick out Harford for an effort that was saved by Neville Southall. Made 33 appearances for Luton throughout the course of the campaign, scoring three goals, netting once in the 6-1 thumping of Southampton at Kenilworth Road. Photo: Hatters Heritage
