On-loan Luton defender Norrington-Davies signs new deal with Sheffield United

On-loan Luton defender Rhys Norrington-Davies has signed a new long-term deal with parent club Sheffield United, agreeing a contract until the summer of 2024.

The 21-year-old has been in fine form the Hatters this term, with 16 appearances in all competitions, although has missed the last two games due to a slight hamstring problem.

Norrington-Davies' exploits have seen him win three senior caps for Wales, all of which have come in Nations League matches.

Although the full back, born in Saudi Arabia, is yet to make a senior appearance for United, whom he joined in 2017, the Blades do have the option to recall him from his loan spell when the January transfer window opens.

Speaking to the club's official website about his new deal, Norrington-Davies said: "I'm over the moon, it's been a long time coming, but I'm happy to get the paperwork done and commit my future to Sheffield United.

"I've gone on loan this season to the Championship, played a lot of games, international call-ups as well, so glad to be rewarded, but my long-term focus is coming back to Sheffield United and doing my bit for them.

"Everything's going well at Luton, I've racked up a quite a few Championship games, it's good, the season has been compressed, a lot of games.

"The standard is good, I'm enjoying my football, but definitely know I've got more to come.

"I can improve and keep on learning and I'm looking forward to playing in the Prem one day hopefully.

"I've played various positions this season, played left wing back, played left back, haven't actually filled in at left centre half yet, but if needs be, I could do."

On his Wales debut and subsequent caps, the defender added: "It came a little sooner that I thought it would, but I was over the moon.

"To be involved in the first camp and then going into the second camp as well, I picked up another two games, so I was really happy with that."
