Ross Lafayette couldn’t help Welling take a step closer to survival in the Vanarama Conference as the Wings lost 2-1 to Eastleigh on Monday.

The striker played 90 minutes and was booked, but Welling are now six points from safety with four games remaining.

Ian Rees played 90 minutes for Hitchin Town as they defeated Cambridge City 2-0 in Southern Division One Central on Monday, while he also netted with an overhead kick during Saturday’s 3-0 win at Frome.
