Luton forward Elliot Lee scored as Oxford United clinched a place in the League One play-offs with a 4-0 win over Burton Albion on the final day of the season at the weekend.

Starting the day in seventh place, the U’s needed to beat the Brewers and hope that Portsmouth either drew or lost at home to Accrington Stanley, while also bettering Charlton’s result, the Addicks level on points, but with a worse goal difference.

They took an early lead when James Henry’s cross was headed home by Olamide Shodipo, before Matty Taylor made it 2-0.

In the second period, Lee had the sixth goal of his spell at the Kassam Stadium, curling in a free kick via the post, before Sam Winnall added a fourth.

Results elsewhere saw Portsmouth lose at home to Accrington Stanley, while as Charlton could only see off Hull 1-0, then Oxford leapfrogged both teams and will now host Blackpool in their play-off semi-final first leg next Tuesday.

Defender Gabriel Osho had 90 minutes as already relegated Rochdale ended their season with a fine 3-0 win at MK Dons.

After a goalless first half, the visitors scored inside the opening five minutes of the second period.

First Aaron Morley fired a brilliant free kick into the top corner, before Jimmy Keohane made it 2-0 with a deflected strike from 18 yards.

The third then arrived when Stephen Humphrys found the net to ensure Dale ended a tough season triumphant

Osho finished his stint at the Crown Oil Arena with 22 appearance and one goal, as manager Brian Barry-Murphy said of his his loan additions: "We don’t really see them as loan players, as such.

“Those players have been such a huge part of what we’ve done over the past few years.

“The likes of Robert Sanchez and Rhys Norrington-Davies, who have gone to do great things, will no doubt be followed by the players we have had this season.

“It’s been a huge benefit to us as a club.

"Callum Jones and all the team that go into recruiting those players must take a lot of credit for making us so competitive on such a difficult financial landscape.”

Attacker Josh Neufville had the full game as Yeovil were comfortable beaten 3-0 at Wrexham in the National League.

Shaun Pearson opened the scoring on nine minutes, before Luke Young made it 2--0 and with half an hour gone, Jordan Davies’ free kick ensured it was game over.

After the break, Neufville sent a shot wide, but they never looked like gaining a consolation and travel to Aldershot Town this evening.
