LOAN WATCH: Smith nets winner on Saints debut

Midfielder Charlie Smith scored the winner for St Albans as they triumphed 1-0 at Basingstoke Town in Conference South on Saturday.

The teenager had only joined his new side on Friday after his loan stint at Hitchin Town ended.

Hatters team-mates Matt Robinson and Dave Martin came up against each other during the 1-1 draw between Bristol Rovers and Kidderminster in the Conference Premier.

Both started, with Robinson playing 90 minutes for Harriers and Martin replaced at half time.

Andy Parry picked up a booking for AFC Telford during a 3-1 defeat at leaders Barnet, while Solomon Taiwo had 90 minutes for Dover Athletic as they won 3-2 at Alfreton Town.

In Conference South, striker Zane Banton was replaced after an hour of Hemel Hempstead Town’s 2-1 win at Sutton United, with Ian Rees an unused sub.

Danny Fitzsimons had the whole game as Bishop’s Stortford drew 1-1 against Eastbourne Borough, while Kynan Isaac was an unused sub when Oxford City beat Brackley Town 2-1 in Conference North.

Mark Onyemah set up Thurrock’s goal against Brightlingsea Regent but they were beaten 3-1 in their Ryman One North encounter.
