Luton attacker Kazenga LuaLua has put any talks about his own future on hold until the season is finally over.

The former Brighton, QPR and Newcastle attacker is one of a number of Town players who penned short-term deals in order to complete the campaign, which has been prolonged by over two month due to the coronavirus pandemic.

He joined Elliot Lee, Danny Hylton, Luke Berry, Glen Rea, Callum McManaman and Jacob Butterfield in doing so, with all the players contributing to Town’s excellent return of 13 points from a possible 24 so far.

When asked if he had given any thought to next term, Lualua, who scored the late winner at Hull City on Saturday, netting his sixth goal in 58 games since joining back in September 2018, said: “We all signed one month deals so the contract situation is not important.

“It’s important to try and keep Luton in the Championship, that’s all we will focus on.

“Whatever happens, it’s about Luton being in the Championship next season.”

LuaLua hasn’t had quite the impact he would have wanted in the recent matches, having struggled to recover from a troublesome knee injury.

However, he was back against Huddersfield and QPR, before becoming Town’s match-winner at the KCOM Stadium on Saturday.

The winger continued: “Since we got back from the lockdown, it’s been hard for me as I had a little knee issue which thank God I’ve managed to recover from and help the boys.

“It has been frustration, not, not playing the games, not for that, but it’s been frustration for myself as I wanted to be fit, help the team, but these things happen.

“You move on, I’m fit now, trying to help the team, but frustration in not playing, it’s been hard for me, my personal point of view.

“It’s a team game though, I’ve always said, you can be angry, but the team comes first, that’s the most important thing.

“We got the three points, whoever scored, at the moment, the most important thing is the three points, it doesn’t matter who scores.”

LuaLua is now back working again with Town manager Nathan Jones for a third time in his career, heading to Kenilworth Road during his first spell on charge.

On what it’s like to have him back in the hotseat once more, he said: “I know the gaffer since when he was at Brighton as I was at Brighton for three years.

“I know how he works, know how he is, he left, he came back now, the boys know how he is, how he works, we’re happy to have him back.

“Of course when you have a manager who’s back and knows the players already, it makes a lot of difference, so we’re all happy to have him back that’s for sure.”
