Luton hope to have attacker Kazenga LuaLua available for this weekend’s trip to Cardiff City, although the game might come too soon for striker Danny Hylton.

LuaLua, 29, who has made 10 appearances in the Championship this term, but just one from the start, wasn’t in the squad for the 1-1 draw with Birmingham City on Tuesday night.

On his absence, Jones said: “He just got Matty Pearson’d in training, which meant that he had to miss the game, so we hope that he’s back for the weekend.”

Meanwhile, when giving an update on Hylton, who hasn’t featured since the international break due to a calf problem, Jones said: “Going bald, but he’s getting there, he’s closer.

“Whether we risk him at the weekend is one thing, but he’s closer to being available.”

The two are Town’s only real injury concerns for their visit to Wales to take on a Bluebirds side who were beaten 1-0 by Coventry City on Wednesday evening, as Jones added: “There aren’t any new ones as such.

“One or two are a bit frustrating at the minute in terms of taking a little bit longer than we would have liked for them to come back and not getting enough minutes and game time to push them into our plans.

“But the squad is in a good place in terms of numbers, in terms of competition, in terms of quality that we have and that’s driving them forward.”
