Town winger Kazenga Lua is relishing being involved in what he described as a 'massive' clash against Blackburn Rovers this evening.

A win for the hosts at Kenilworth Road should be enough to ensure the Hatters are playing Championship football once more next term.

Since the season resumed, Town’s away form has been top drawer, with three wins from four, only denied a perfect return by champions Leeds United in a 1-1 draw at Elland Road.

LuaLua would love to see them replicate those kind of performances on home soil tonight, where they have taken just three points from a possible 12, saying: “It has been really, really good, but that (Hull) was the last away game of the season, so we need to focus on home now as at home we haven’t been as good as away.

“We need to go again, try to get the three points and hopefully that will be enough to stay up."

Hatters will have to do so without being roared on by almost 10,000 home fans due to the game being played behind closed doors, and LuaLua admitted not having their support does make it harder.

He continued: "We all know the fans they make a difference, to any team, not just Luton, but we will miss them on Wednesday night.

“We know with them being there it would be nice, but again, we know what happened with all this corona stuff.

“We need to forget it and try and be focused for Wednesday.

"It’s a big game, massive, it’s so important. Praise to God we stay up and finish the job, it will be nice.”

Although Luton know a win should be enough to secure their second tier status, as long as Wigan's appeal into a points deduction isn't upheld, LuaLua is glad not to be needing too many on other results to go their way on the night.

He added: "We put ourselves in with a good chance now with the three points (at Hull), but if you’re relying on another team now too much, for me, you crumble, you’re not focused on what you’re doing.

"So for me, the most important thing, we need to focus on what we do and hopefully it will be enough.

"We’ve put ourselves in a good position and we need to try and win on Wednesday.

"You have to focus on your own result first before you look at the other results."
