The USA international made 16 appearances for the Hatters last term in a hugely successful loan spell, starring at the back as Town achieved Championship survival on the final day.

Jones has stated his reluctance to enter the loan market again this season, but when asked if that meant Carter-Vickers, who has a year left on his deal at Spurs and already featured for Jose Mourinho's side twice in pre-season, wouldn't be back, he said: "It might not rule out going back in for Cameron, but what we don't like doing is loans, so you can work your own way out from that.

"We prefer our own players as when we add value to players which we believe we do add value, we would like that value to be ours, that’s what we do."
