Hatters boss Nathan Jones is confident that the club have created a safe environment for the players to return to training after they were given the green light to do so by the Government recently.

Luton's players were back at the Brache after eight weeks away last month due to the lockdown measures enforced because of the coronavirus pandemic, with Jones then returning himself as manager for a second stint just seven days ago.

With Town’s squad returning no positive tests since coming back, after being unveiled himself as the man to try and lead them to Championship safety, Jones said: “In all honesty we go to supermarkets and they are probably more dangerous than the football environment at the minute.

“The EFL protocols have been fantastic, with Luton and Gary Sweet and Chris Clark, they’ve adhered to these protocols by the absolute letter so it’s a very safe environment.

“It is strange but hopefully by the time we start playing games, the parameters would have changed slightly so there won’t be such a feel about it.

“As I said, we still have to be diligent because at the minute coronavirus isn’t going away and we have to learn to live with it.

"There might be elements of fear but I think at the minute everyone is delighted to be back, delighted to be out in the fresh air, back with their mates and probably not mowing the lawn.”
