Luton boss Rob Edwards has lost out to Burnley’s Vincent Kompany after he was named Sky Bet EFL Championship Manager of the Month for January.

Despite Town winning three from four second tier games, beating Huddersfield, Wigan and Cardiff, the award went to the former Manchester City defender who also led the Clarets to three victories, winning at Swansea and then home to Coventry and West Bromwich Albion.

Former Hatters midfielder Danny Wilson, who chairs the judging panel, said: “It was a perfect January for Vincent and his Burnley charges who seem to be getting better as the season progresses.

"Confidence must be soaring at Turf Moor after the late great turn around against West Brom.”

Sky Sports’ EFL pundit Don Goodman added: “It was yet another perfect month for the Clarets and the impact of Vincent Kompany just becomes more and more evident

“His Burnley side are so often dominant in games, but they also showed some real grit in coming from behind against West Brom to secure an important three points.”
