Hatters boss Nathan Jones is hoping that none of his players are called up for international duty this month.

After a congested spell of seven games 22 days, following Saturday’s trip to Huddersfield Town, Luton’s squad have a welcome fortnight off ahead of another punishing Christmas schedule where they play 10 games before the turn of the year.

With Croatian keeper Simon Sluga, Welsh trio Tom Lockyer, Joe Morrell and Rhys Norrington-Davies, plus Irish striker James Collins in the Luton ranks, there is every chance Town could see up to five players having to play another three matches ahead of their home match with Blackburn on November 21.

Croatia have a friendly in Turkey along with Nations League games against Sweden and Portugal as Wales take on USA in a friendly, with Nations League games against Ireland and Finland.

Ireland head to Wembley to face England in a friendly, also taking on Wales and Bulgaria in Nations League ties, as when asked how many players he could lose, Jones said: “Hopefully none as we have a Croatian one that just goes away and doesn’t play a minute, so it just takes it away from him.

“James Collins may go away with Ireland, but I have no interest in him going away, and then Rhys Norrington-Davies won’t go away now if he’s injured, because he needs the rest.

“He’s picked up an injury which is a really frustrating one as the kid’s 21, and at the minute, for a number of reasons, not just because we keep picking him, there’s a number of reasons why he has to keep playing and that’s frustrating for me.”
