Luton boss won't be second guessing what kind of side Red Devils chief Solskjaer will put out at Kenilworth Road

Luton manager Nathan Jones knows that it will be a massive challenge for his side to get a result against Premier League giants Manchester United next weekend, whoever Red Devils boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer decides to pick.

The former Norwegian striker could opt to give match-practice to some of his big-hitters like French midfielder Paul Pogba, who tested positive for coronavirus recently, although whether summer signing Donny van de Beek, whom United paid £35m for, is another thing.

Speaking about the opposition that could run out at Kenilworth Road, Jones said: “I can’t second guess, Man United are Man United, I can’t tell Ole what to do, as he’s at a big club.

"Whoever we come up against it will be an occasion, when the red shirts of Man U come to town, it’s always a big game.

“So whoever they put out we will test ourselves against and it’s a good game, a good game for the club, because people will remember us playing Man U.”

Although the game will be screened live on Sky Sports, Jones wishes it was being played in front of a packed out and fervent Kenilworth Road crowd.

He added: “I’m not sure I should say this but I think being on Sky actually costs us money.

“Obviously with the amount of fans Man United will have, they will probably watch it on Sky rather than iFollow but it’s a great test for us, really it is.

“We wanted to get through, we took the competition very seriously, played a strong side, we had a really competitive game against Reading the other night but we showed the depth of the squad we had.

“They were excellent and thoroughly deserved our result on the night.

"I know that after feeling like that on the night and watching it back again.

“It’s just a shame that it’s not a full house as a full Kenilworth would be electric in a game like that.

“When Man United come to town, it’s always a big occasion and it’s really sad, I wouldn't quite say tragic, but sad that are fans are not there to see such a big game against such a big club.

"It would be fantastic to see the calibre of players that Man United have at Kenilworth Road and it really, really will be an occasion.

"It still will be an occasion, obviously not as electric as it would have been, but that’s the times we live in.”
