Town boss Nathan Jones doesn't believe he will have to move any players out before strengthening his squad during the transfer window.

The coronavirus pandemic has seen clubs' finances hit hard, with a lack of match-day income since February due to games being played behind closed doors.

Despite that, Town have still managed to bolster their squad to the tune of four new signings, Tom Lockyer, James Bree, Jordan Clark and Rhys Norrington-Davies, the latter penning a season-long loan from Premier League Sheffield United.

With Jones still looking to do some business ahead of the window closing next month, when asked if he had to move people on before that could happen, he said: “That’s something you’ll have to ask Gary (Sweet, chief executive).

"Financially we know we’re at a certain level, we have to stay at that level, we can’t overexert ourselves with the current climate and the club has done very well in terms of that.

"What we have done, is we’ve made certain compromises elsewhere and probably nine have left, and we’ve brought in four.

"We’ve streamlined the squad, so there might be a little bit of scope there from money saved.

"It’s just getting the right one, we don’t just bring in bodies, if we can get the right one then there’ll be a bit of scope to add one.

"We won’t be bringing in Messi or we won’t be bringing in a multi-million pound footballer, what we’ll be doing is bringing someone in who can improve us if we don’t get that then we’re quite happy with what we have.”

On what kind of position that player might be, Jones was giving nothing away, but did add: "We’d probably like to add one more in terms of getting something a little bit different, but we’ll have to see if that is possible and if it is possible then we’ll do it.

"If not then then I’m very happy with what I have, we’ve got real good options, we’ve got real good competition.

"It’s not a big, big squad, it’s a tight squad and right now, I’ve got decisions to make in pretty much every position."
