Luton's on-loan defender Rhys Norrington-Davies won his first senior Wales cap during this evening's excellent 1-0 Nations League win against Bulgaria.

The 21-year-old, who is on loan at Kenilworth Road from Premier League side Sheffield United, was given a debut by manager Ryan Giggs for the clash out in Sofia, one of four changes from Sunday's draw with the Republic of Ireland.

After a first half low on chances, it was Norrington-Davies who went closest in the second period, half-volleying over following good work by Neco Williams and Tyler Roberts.

Wales' best moments continued to come from wide positions, Neco Williams and Roberts combining well, Rabbi Matondo shooting off target from the latter's cross on 75 minutes.

However, Giggs' side had the breakthrough with just five minutes to go, Neco Williams delivering a low ball into the area for Jonny Williams to produce a wonderful flicked finish into the roof of the net.

The victory ensured Wales stayed top of the group, and speaking to Sky Sports, Norrington-Davies said: "It was an amazing feeling, Ryan Giggs has put his trust in me and the main thing is we went out and got three points.

"I play five at the back at club football so I knew my responsibilities and I thought we did well in that system tonight.

"We keep on trying to break teams down, we had threatened in the first half and it wasn't to be but we were relentless.

"If you keep working you will always get opportunities.

"And it was a superb finish from Jonny, he deserves it."
