Luton supporters have overwhelmingly expressed their desire for the club to re-sign Spurs defender Cameron Carter-Vickers.

The 22-year-old only joined on loan in January, playing just 16 games, but made a resounding impressing during his seven months at Kenilworth Road.

He played every single minute when the season resumed after lockdown, the only outfield player to do so, as in his 15 starts, Town kept five of their seven clean sheets in total last term.

Carter-Vickers still has a year to run on his contract at Tottenham, while affording the USA international's wages will also be an issue, but on a poll run by the Luton News on Twitter, a massive 98.6% of supporters out of the almost 1,000 who voted, confirmed they wanted to see him back next term.

Giving their reasons why, @AvaisShaukat said: "Quite a close one this, reckon it'll be tight until the last minute...." while @sawtryhatter stated: "Fat chance on his wages, but we can all hope," and @dicreamio added: "A few people must have hit no by accident."

Speaking about Carter-Vickers' loan spell at Luton recently, boss Nathan Jones, who also signed the defender when in charge of Stoke City earlier in the season, said: "I like Cam, he’s a really good lad, fits into the dressing room quite easily, he's very amiable, hard-working, fit.

"Because he comes from Tottenham he’s had a good education, we know that and any young player I’ve ever taken from Tottenham character-wise has been wonderful."

Meanwhile, Carter-Vickers himself said: "I’ve played a lot of games which has helped me personally, but it was also good to be out there helping the team.

“It’s a great group of boys there and I feel like they deserve to be in the Championship next season – to be able to go there and help them do that was great.

“I’m thankful to Luton for the opportunity to play for them and hopefully I’ve played a part in them staying up.”
