Luton boss Nathan Jones has revealed that defender Peter Kioso might be sent out on loan again during the January transfer window, despite recalling him from Bolton Wanderers this morning.

The 21-year-old made 14 appearances for the Trotters, scoring three times, in an impressive stint at the University of Bolton Stadium, before heading back to Kenilworth Road.

Jones will now take a closer look at him before deciding whether to keep the former Dunstable and Hartepool full back around the squad, send him back to Bolton, or somewhere else to further his development.

The manager said: "It was a few things really, Martin Cranie is out so one, we need a bit of cover in that area, but the thing was always this is the plan for him and Gaby (Osho), getting them back in our environment for a little while and then assessing them.

"He’s had a real good loan up at Bolton and we’re delighted with his progress.

"He might still go back out, he might still go back there, it’s just we’re just assessing him a little bit, getting him back involved with us for a few weeks and then going from there.

“He’s done well, he’s been looked after, we were very careful on the club we chose because we had a lot of interest in him.

"We kept him around for a long period, but we kept Bolton there because we believed it would be a good loan for him.

"I know certain people there and the new manager going in has a good record, so we’re delighted that he was looked after and he enjoyed it.

"It’s not beyond the realms that he’ll go back out there, but right now he’s back involved in our fold and that’s what always was the plan."

On just how he was able to monitor Kioso, who has played three times for the Hatters, with one start against Manchester United in the Carabao Cup this term, during his time in Lancashire, Jones added: "You get the games covered.

"I can’t get to the games live as they play the same time as us, so it’s very difficult, but we watch them, we watch his progress, we get his stats and everything, so it's a key thing.

"We don’t just let him go and leave them and think 'get on with it,' same with Gaby and even Josh Neufville who’s out, so we take an interest in our own loan players."
