Luton chief Nathan Jones has confirmed the club are taking a look at Concord Rangers striker Temi Babalola with the potential of adding him to the club’s U21 squad this season.

The 19-year-old 6ft 4in Nigerian forward featured in Town's friendly at National League South side Slough Town on Tuesday night, going close to a winner in the latter stages.

Babalola helped the Beach Boys reach the final of the FA Trophy following their 2-1 win against Halesowen Town on Saturday, when ex-Luton attacker Alex Wall was on target.

He signed for Concord in February on a dual registration with Brentwood Town, after spells at Woodford Town, Brentwood FC and Romford FC.

Jones said: “We had a look at him, he’s in and around our environment.

“It was a really good competitive game that we thank Slough for making it like that.

“It was a young side we put out but it was a real good opener and test for them, because of the physicality.

“It’s something they don’t get in U23s football and, to be fair to Slough, they were a really good outfit.

"Our boys had to do well in terms of defensive shape, winning headers and defending your box, so it was a real good test for them. I was pleased all around."

Town have promoted six players from their U18s in recent years, with Sam Beckwith, Tiernan Parker, Avan Jones, Corey Panter, Josh Neufville and Jake Peck all coming through the ranks.

It's an area that Jones wants to improve on, adding: "We’re looking to evolve in that group and get a regular under-21 group.

"We wanted to go category 2, because that really does help, it’s the bridge between under-18s and first team.

"They can go in there, get further development, so that’s what we’re trying to do.

“We’re trying to grow as a club on all levels.

"We haven’t managed to achieve that yet, but that is something we are looking to do.

"Little by little, we want to strengthen the U21 group."
