Luton star up for FA award

Morgan-Smith on the shortlist after St Albans trio

LUTON Town’s Amari Morgan-Smith is one of five players nominated for the E.ON player of the round’ award following his hat-trick against St Albans in the Hatters 4-0 fourth qualifying round victory on Saturday, writes Mike Simmonds.

Morgan-Smith, who completed his treble with a sensational chip, is up against Eastbourne Borough’s Troy Hewitt who hit a hat-trick as his side won 4-2 at Blue Square Bet Premier Eastbourne Borough, Darlington’s Marc Bridge-Wilkinson, who scored a volley in the 6-2 thrashing of Mossley.

Corby Town, who Hatters will face, have Nathan Jarman in the running after his double saw off Salisbury City, while Simon Russell completes the list, on target with a marvellous goal during Cambridge United’s 3-0 victory over Lewes.

A five-strong panel will nominate their candidates after each round (up to and including the semi-final) and you can vote for your favourite on TheFA.com.

The panel comprises FA Cup hero Ricky George, E.ON’s Executive Director Graham Bartlett, Radio 5 live presenter Mark Chapman, The Daily Star’s Sports Editor Howard Wheatcroft and TV personality and FATV presenter Tim Lovejoy.

The deadline for voting is midday on Tuesday, November 2, and the player with the highest number of votes will receive a commemorative trophy and two VIP tickets to The FA Cup sponsored by E.ON Final on May 14, 2011.
